Where this came from

Neighbors, working
side by side.

Each year, churches and hundreds of neighbors come together through initiatives like the Living City Project and local church outreaches to serve our communities and help our city shine.

Do Something Dayton grew out of these expressions of churches, neighborhood leaders, and community members working side by side. Our vision is to mobilize collaborative efforts throughout the year that help neighborhoods across Dayton flourish.

By connecting communities of faith that want to serve with neighborhood leaders who understand their communities' needs, we hope to inspire creative and meaningful projects: neighborhood cleanups, park restoration, painting, beautification, community outreach, and more.

  • 4 Hub sites this October
  • 65 Neighborhoods on the map
  • 3 Days to do something
  • 1 City worth the trouble

This year's Do Something Weekend is happening October 9 to 11,
and you are invited to join us.

Four hub sites, pinned below

Pick your
hub site.

This is the real Dayton: all sixty-five neighborhoods, drawn from the city's own boundary maps. The four push pins are our hub sites for October. Those are the four you can choose this year.

Beta run October is our first Do Something Weekend, so we are starting with four neighborhoods and doing them properly. The rest of the city is on this map on purpose. We intend to reach every one of them. If yours is not pinned yet, find it below and tell us to come there next.

Pick a lane

There is more than
one way to do something.

  • Neighborhood cleanups

The work that started it all. Streets, alleys, vacant lots, and the corners everybody walks past. Bring gloves and bring people.

  • Park restoration

Mulch, planting, trail clearing, and playgrounds made safe again.

  • Painting

Porches, railings, fences, and the front doors of neighbors who cannot climb a ladder anymore.

  • Beautification

Flower beds, murals, planters, and street corners that tell the truth about who lives there.

  • Community outreach

Block parties, cookouts, back-to-school drives, senior visits, and whatever else a neighborhood tells us it actually needs. If you have an idea nobody has tried yet, that is exactly what this weekend is for.

Three steps

It is simpler
than you think.

  1. 01

Pick a hub and tell us who you are

A church, a neighborhood association, a business, a student group, or one person with a Saturday free. Choose one of the four hub sites and fill out the short form below.

  2. 02

    We connect you

We match communities of faith who want to serve with neighborhood leaders who know what their block actually needs. That match is the whole point.

  3. 03

Show up October 9 to 11

You will have a project, a place, a time, and people beside you. Then you will have a neighborhood that looks different on Monday.

Together, we can make a lasting difference.
One neighborhood at a time.

The four October hub sites. Pick one on the map above and it lands here. Want us in a different neighborhood? Say so in the project idea box below.

How I would like to participate

We use your information to coordinate Do Something Weekend and nothing else. No sharing, no selling.
